Walking with God is key to living a purposeful, joyful and meaningful life. If you desire a deeper connection with your Creator and to live according to His will, learning to walk closely with Him each day is essential. The Bible reveals to us that Enoch “walk with God”, our Father and as a result, God took him up (Genesis 5.24). This implies Enoch didn’t die but was taken directly into the Lord’s presence in heaven. It pleases God when His children seek to follow Him with this same closeness.
God places a demand on Abrah to walk before Him even at the age of nighty-nine (Genesis
17.1), this suggested that our walk with God is to be consistent while we are on this side of
eternity, even in our old age. The demand God placed on Abram came even before the covenant, it goes without saying that the covenant was contingent on Abrams walk with God. The following statement of Scriptures are instructive: Genesis 17.2 NIV “Then I will make my covenant between me and you and will greatly increase your numbers”. Just like everyone of us, Abram must choose to respond to Gods demand for our lives and in this context, walking with God. God will not and has never forced anyone to do anything as we read in Deuteronomy 30.19 NIV “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live”.
If we are going to apply Scriptural intelligence, then we must:
a) Sincerely desire to walk with God
b) Be intentional in your desire to walk with God
c) Take steps necessary to walk with God
I have learnt in my walk with God that whatever demand God places on us is never for His
benefit but for our benefits. Those demand are place for our profitability, promotion, protection, provision and even for our posterity. Having said all these, our motive should be the benefits but a deeper and productive relationship with our heavenly Father through the Person of the Holy Spirit.
